ZIG WILL DESTROY OUR LIVES AGAIN IF WE DO NOT SPEAK NOW
The Reserve Bank governor John Mushayavanhu is now trying to force Zimbabwe to use only the ZiG. This is a very dangerous idea. It will bring pain to the people. It will destroy the small hope that many families are still holding on to. ZiG is already a very weak currency. It cannot buy fuel. It cannot pay for passports. It cannot even pay some taxes. But now the government wants it to be the only money in the whole country. This is a big mistake.
When a weak currency is forced on people, things always end badly. Prices start going up very fast. Shops change prices every week. Transport becomes too expensive. Rent becomes impossible. Life becomes a fight every day. We have already lived through this before in 2008. We know how it feels when money loses value. We know the pain of seeing savings turn into nothing.
Mushayavanhu says ZiG is now strong enough. But this is not true. The so-called stability of ZiG is fake. It is only stable because the government is protecting it. They are not allowing it to be used in real situations. A currency cannot be strong when even the government is scared to use it for important things. If the ZiG was truly strong, they would allow it to be used everywhere. But they know it will fail. They know people will reject it. So they hide it and pretend it is doing well.
Professor Gift Mugano has explained this very well. He said ZiG looks stable only because it is not being used for big things. It is like saying a boxer is strong because he never fights. We cannot trust a currency that cannot stand on its own. We cannot trust a currency that must be protected like a small child.
Another expert, Steve Hanke from the United States, has also warned us. He said Zimbabwe’s currency is the third worst in the whole world. Only Venezuela and Lebanon have worse money. That is how bad things are. ZiG dropped by 33 percent in just one year. At the same time, the government increased the amount of money in the system. More weak money plus a weak economy is a recipe for disaster.
Hanke also says inflation is already at 79 percent per year. That means prices are almost doubling every year. And this is happening while ZiG is still protected. What will happen when it becomes the only currency? Life will get much harder. The poor will suffer. Shops will raise prices. Businesses will close. Workers will not survive on their salaries. It will be a nightmare.
The truth is simple. Countries with the worst currencies are always countries with political trouble, no jobs, and no investment. Zimbabwe is one of those countries. The government has failed again and again. They cannot manage the economy. They cannot protect the people. Now they want to remove the US dollar, the only thing keeping us alive, and force ZiG on us? This is madness.
President Mnangagwa has no plan. His team has no idea how to fix the economy. They only bring confusion. And now Mushayavanhu wants to risk the whole country again with this dangerous plan.
This will not end well. People will lose savings. Families will suffer. The poor will feel the pain first. We have seen this before. We cannot allow it to happen again.
We must say no. ZiG is not stable. The government is lying again. They are playing with our lives. We must speak now before it is too late.
Mushayavanhu’s plan is not a solution. It is economic suicide. It will end in hunger, pain, and shame. We must reject it.
