PARLIAMENT HAS BECOME A CRIME SCENE IN ZIMBABWE

Parliament of Zimbabwe is now being called a crime scene because many Members of Parliament are not working for the people anymore. They are working for themselves. They are fighting to get money and other benefits for supporting President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Many reports say Mnangagwa is fighting for his political life because there are talks of impeachment. Impeachment means a president can lose his job if he has broken the law or failed the people.

There are reports that some MPs met in Mabelreign, Harare, where they were given stands as a bribe. The stands were given so that the MPs will vote against the impeachment of Mnangagwa. This information came out after the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works confirmed that 70 stands were given to MPs just two days ago. These stands were given in three places. In Killarney, Goromonzi, 15 stands were given. In Penrose, Zvimba, another 15 stands were given. In Mabelreign, Harare, the biggest number was given with 40 stands.

The Ministry said this is not new. They said the programme of giving stands to MPs started in 2013. They said this was done so MPs can have places to stay. They called it a non-monetary benefit. This means the government gives the MPs land instead of money. They also said MPs from the 8th Parliament, the 9th Parliament and now the 10th Parliament all received stands. Goromonzi got 188 stands. Bulawayo got 49 stands. Chiredzi got 12 stands. Kadoma got 9 stands. Beitbridge got 5 stands.

The Ministry of Local Government gave a press statement on 9 April 2025. They said 70 stands were given in Goromonzi, Zvimba and Harare. They said these stands were part of the government plan to help MPs with housing. They also said the government is doing the same for war veterans, women, youths and civil servants. But many Zimbabweans do not believe this story.

People are angry. The National Democratic Working Group, led by Job Sikhala, said Parliament has become a crime scene. They said MPs are not working for the people anymore. They are working to save Mnangagwa from being removed from power. Many people are also talking about the timing. They believe the stands are being given now because Mnangagwa needs support to stop impeachment. The stands are being seen as bribes, not benefits. Many believe this shows how corruption has taken over Parliament.

Other people say that while MPs are getting free stands, many Zimbabweans are suffering. They do not have houses or land. They cannot afford to buy stands because they are too expensive. MPs already get big salaries, but they are now getting land for free. This makes people feel angry and forgotten.

This issue has made many people lose trust in Parliament. MPs are supposed to work for the people who voted for them. But now it looks like they only care about themselves and protecting Mnangagwa. Zimbabweans are watching to see what happens next. Will MPs vote to save Mnangagwa because of the stands? Or will they listen to the people and do the right thing?

For now, the story of MPs getting stands is the talk of the nation. Many people believe this is not just about housing. It is about power, corruption and the future of the country.
