WICKNELL CHIVAYO’S MILLION-DOLLAR SCANDAL SHOWS HOW DEEP ZANU PF CORRUPTION GOES

Wicknell Chivayo is a name many people in Zimbabwe know very well. He likes to show money, cars, and his friendship with big politicians. He is also very close to President Emmerson Mnangagwa. But now he is in very big trouble. A huge scandal worth about US$100 million is following him. This money was supposed to help run the 2023 elections. But it looks like some of it went into the wrong hands.

The problem started with a tender to supply election materials. ZEC gave the job to a South African company called Ren-Form CC. The payment was R1.2 billion, about US$66 million. From that amount, Chivayo somehow received R800 million, more than US$40 million. People are asking how this happened. He did not win the tender. He was not part of the official deal. But still, companies linked to him got a huge amount of money.

Both Zimbabwe and South Africa are now looking into this deal. There are signs of money laundering. There are strange bank transfers. There is a lot of smoke. And when there is smoke, we all know there is fire. This case is no longer gossip. NewsHawks first reported it, then other media followed. Now even the South African authorities are following the money.

This week, Chivayo tried to explain himself on social media. He wrote a long message saying he did nothing wrong. He said people are jealous of him. He said he is just a hard-working businessman. He even said people must go to night school if they do not understand contracts. But his message was not clear. It sounded angry. It sounded like he was trying too hard. Many people said it made him look more guilty.

He also said he never worked with ZEC. But if that is true, then why did his companies get more than US$40 million from a tender he was not part of? He said there is no missing money and no complainant. But the investigations are still going on, and many people are watching. He blamed the media. He blamed people in exile. He blamed the opposition. But he did not answer the main question: why did he get this money?

People in Zimbabwe are tired. They are tired of corruption and people getting rich while the country suffers. Hospitals have no medicine. Schools have no books. Roads are broken. But some people get millions from government deals. It is painful to see.

Chivayo says he wants to be the youngest billionaire in the country. He says no one can stop him. But this time the law may stop him. No matter how powerful he thinks he is, the truth is coming out. The world is watching Zimbabwe.

This scandal is not only about Chivayo. It shows how ZANU PF uses state power for personal gain. It shows how elections are controlled with money. It shows why our country is poor even when we have many resources. This story is not finished. The investigations will continue. The truth will come. And justice will come too, even if it takes time.
