ZANU PF FIGHTS FOR POWER WHILE ZIMBABWE SUFFERS

The fight inside Zanu PF is now very clear for everyone to see. President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the people who support him want him to stay in power until the year 2030. Ten Zanu PF provinces have already agreed with this idea. They say they want to make real the decision that was made in Bulawayo last year. That meeting said Mnangagwa must go beyond the normal two term limit. The Constitution of Zimbabwe allows only two terms, which means his time must end in 2028. But now the party wants him to stay until 2030. This means Mnangagwa will be going for a third term even though the law does not allow it.

The next big meeting will happen in Mutare, where Zanu PF will have its annual convention. The main question is simple. What will happen there? Will the party push the resolution without any challenge? Or will some people inside Zanu PF speak against it? This is where Vice President Constantino Chiwenga becomes very important. Many people believe he is the natural successor after Mnangagwa. But if Mnangagwa stays until 2030, then Chiwenga’s chance becomes very small.

Chiwenga now faces his biggest test. He must choose what he will do. If he agrees with the plan, people will say he is weak and not a real leader. If he keeps quiet, he will still look powerless. If he rejects the plan, he risks starting an open fight with Mnangagwa and the loyal people around him. No matter what he chooses, the danger is there for him.

This power struggle did not start today. It has been coming for a long time. Mnangagwa has been working to hold strong control over the party. Chiwenga has been waiting for his moment to take over. Many people in Zanu PF believed that 2028 would be the year when a new leader would come in. But now that hope is being taken away. The agreement from the provinces shows that Mnangagwa has become very powerful inside the party. It also shows that he has taken control of structures that were supposed to be neutral in the succession fight.

For the people of Zimbabwe, this is another painful story. The leaders are not fighting for the economy. They are not fighting for jobs. They are not fighting for better hospitals. They are not fighting for the suffering of millions of citizens. They are fighting for power. Two men fighting to sit on a throne while the whole nation continues to suffer. This shows how far Zanu PF has moved away from the real problems that people face every day.

Many activists and observers say the plan for 2030 is illegal and dangerous. It will destroy whatever respect is left for the Constitution. It will push Zimbabwe deeper into dictatorship. It will also create more anger and division inside the ruling party. This kind of division can even spill into the streets. The truth is simple. Mnangagwa does not want to leave power, and Chiwenga wants his chance to rule. This same kind of fight has destroyed many African countries before. Now Zimbabwe is walking on that same painful road again.

As the Mutare convention gets closer, all eyes will be on Chiwenga. Will he give up his dream and support Mnangagwa? Or will he stand up and take the risk? Whatever happens, the people of Zimbabwe must remember one thing. This fight is not for them. It is not for progress. It is not for democracy. It is for greed. It is for a small group of people at the top who care more about power than the lives of ordinary citizens.

  1. This article is nonsense written by regime-change agents. ZANU PF provinces have spoken, and that is democracy. If the people want President Mnangagwa to continue, who are you to cry about it? Power belongs to the majority, not activists.

  2. People like you fear strong leadership. President Mnangagwa brought stability after Mugabe and protected the country from chaos. Extending his leadership is about safeguarding national interests, not greed. Opposition confusion should not stop progress.

  3. Calling this dictatorship is emotional rubbish. Many countries adjust leadership timelines for development continuity. Mnangagwa has Vision 2030 to complete. Removing him halfway will reverse gains already made.
