ZANU PF IS CELEBRATING FAILURE AND CALLING IT SUCCESS

Once upon a time, Zimbabwe was one of the strongest economies in sub-Saharan Africa. We were number two, just behind South Africa. We had working industries, busy factories, good hospitals, strong banks, and real jobs. Life was not perfect, but the country was moving forward. People had hope. People had dignity. Today, ZANU PF is now celebrating that we are number five. They say this is progress. But it is not progress. It is failure, and they know it.

According to the IMF, Zimbabwe’s economy is worth around US$66 billion today. This puts us below South Africa, Angola, Tanzania, and the DRC. But ZANU PF talks as if this is something great. They forget that Zimbabwe used to be above many of these countries. In the 1980s and 1990s, we had a working system. Today we only have slogans, lies, and propaganda that cannot feed anyone.

What is there to celebrate? People are suffering. Nurses are running away to other countries. Doctors are striking because they cannot survive. Teachers are poor and tired. Youths are jobless. Vendors are being chased by police every day just to survive. And ZANU PF still says the economy is growing. Growing for who?

It is not growing for the people in Mbare. It is not growing for the people in Mutare. It is not growing for the young people who risk their lives crossing crocodile-filled rivers just to reach South Africa. This is not real growth. It is fake growth. It is growth on paper, not in real life. It does not change anything for the ordinary person.

ZANU PF destroyed our economy with corruption, violence, and bad leadership. They looted the farms. They scared away investors. They stole from the people. They lied about land reform, lied about empowerment, lied about everything. Now they want praise for moving Zimbabwe from number two to number five. How do you celebrate that? Who celebrates going backwards?

This is what failure looks like when it wears a suit and smiles on TV. They talk about GDP while the people eat from bins. They talk about progress while children learn under trees. They talk about jobs while ministers buy new cars every year. They live large while the people suffer.

ZANU PF has nothing to show, so they celebrate anything. Even failure. Even moving backwards. They use numbers to fool the people. But the people are not fools. They feel the pain every day. They see the truth with their own eyes.

If Zimbabwe was a company, ZANU PF would have been fired many years ago. You cannot destroy something and then expect a medal because it is now slightly less broken. That is what they are doing. And it is shameful.

We must not clap for lies. We must not allow them to fool the people again. We must remind them that we remember what Zimbabwe used to be. We must ask them who killed the industry. Who caused the blackouts. Who turned nurses into beggars. The answer is simple: ZANU PF.

This celebration of failure is an insult to every Zimbabwean who suffers every day. It is an insult to every child without books, every grandmother without medicine, every father without work.

ZANU PF has no plan. That is why they dance over small things. They fear real change and real accountability. That is why they use propaganda to control people.

But Zimbabweans are waking up. We are tired of lies. We are tired of celebrating hunger and poverty. The country is not okay. And until ZANU PF is gone, it will not be okay.

We do not want to be number five. We want to be free.

  1. Zimbabwe’s economy is growing despite sabotage and constant negativity. Instead of talking down the country, critics should support national development and unity.

  2. Growth on paper means nothing when people are hungry. GDP statistics do not buy medicine or pay school fees. Until ordinary people feel improvement, this so-called progress is just propaganda.ZANU PF destroyed a functioning economy and now wants applause for surviving the damage they caused. No serious nation celebrates decline. This article exposes that hypocrisy clearly.
